Amgen installs a wide range of window grilles and invisible grilles, including invisible grilles, stainless steel grilles, aluminium grilles and traditional iron grilles, to suit each unit's protection needs and budget.
Invisible grilles have grown popular in recent years — fine, high-strength steel cables strung horizontally into a net, almost transparent from a distance, offering both fall and burglary protection while preserving ventilation and views, ideal for families who value the view but also need fall protection. Traditional iron grilles have strong burglary deterrence, while stainless steel and aluminium grilles are weather-resistant and less prone to oxidation.
If existing iron grilles have oxidised or come loose, Amgen can replace them with weather-resistant materials or invisible grilles; during a window replacement we can also remove and refit old grilles in one go. All works are measured, custom-made and safely installed by licensed technicians, licence number MWC 316/2021.

Each has pros and cons. Traditional grilles have strong burglary deterrence but block ventilation and views; invisible grilles are transparent and cover fall prevention, but their burglary deterrence is relatively weaker. Families with children who value the view often choose invisible grilles; those prioritising security or on low floors may consider solid grilles.
Does installing grilles or guards require a Buildings Department declaration?
For private buildings, adding fixed metal grilles that alter the external wall or risk being unauthorised building works must observe the relevant Buildings Ordinance rules; an invisible grille is generally a lighter addition. For your specific situation, it is best to consult a licensed contractor first — Amgen can assess it for you.
Can oxidised iron grilles just be repainted?
Minor oxidation can be sanded and repainted as a short-term fix, but painting cannot restore lost metal strength. If the oxidation is deep or the grille shows signs of coming loose, for safety you should consider switching to weather-resistant materials or an invisible grille.
Can grilles be handled together with a window replacement?
Yes. When replacing aluminium windows, old grilles usually need to be removed first; after fitting the new window you can refit the existing grille, replace it, or switch to an invisible grille — Amgen can handle it all in one go.
